Storyteller Kevin Kling’s brain injury created new challenges in his life, which led to new opportunities for growth and a new understanding of the sacredness of telling our life stories.

Write a personal narrative which tells about a time in your life when what appeared to be a loss turned into an unexpected gift. Then try telling your story out loud to someone without reading from what you wrote and see what a difference an audience makes in what you say and how you say it.

Kling’s limited mobility led him to be creative when it comes to things like turning on a shower. Think of an everyday action that would be difficult if you only had the use of one arm. Invent a new way to do that task using materials that are readily available to help you out.
