With influences from Diego Rivera to Jean Michel Basquiat, “Neto” Ybarra’s work tells the story of his life. His paintings are large and active; often spilling onto more than one canvas. His paintings play on typical (and stereotypical) Mexican / Aztec symbols that hearken to Diego Rivera murals, showing communities and their connection to their environment. His paintings are really bright and colorful because, “nobody does color like me.”

Fun fact: Ernesto developed his bright color pallet after traveling through Mexico with the local hip hop group Los Nativos.
