Kinji Akagawa has been called a model Minnesota artist as well as a pioneer in the public art movement. His works – Garden Seating, Reading, Thinking in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, The Peace Garden Bridge at the Lyndale Peace Park, and a pergola erected at Normandale Community College’s entryway — exemplify Akagawa’s propensity for incorporating local materials into his sculptures.
