VocalEssence has been at the forefront of choral music since its founding in 1969 by artistic director Philip Brunelle. Growing out of the Plymouth Music Series, VocalEssence includes a 130-voice chorus as well as a 32-voice professional ensemble.

In addition to collaborating with many renowned contemporary composers, the VocalEssence professional ensemble is also the house choir on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. Here, the professional ensemble sings The Day is Done in the Ted Mann Concert Hall at the University of Minnesota.
