Steinway + Sons has called him everything from a “furniture veneer master” to a “genius” for his art case grand piano creations, and he’s sold work to well known actresses, former presidents and princes. But while Thomas Schrunk is perhaps most well known for his wood veneer pieces, light is his true artistic tool and to that end, the possibilities are endless. Schrunk calls himself an “artist in lustrous materials” and composes stunning effects with aluminum and concrete as well as wood.

His distinctive work is on display at the Blue Sky Galleries in the Northrup King building, in the Minneapolis Red Cross and on the Sears Centre Stadium in Chicago.
