Appreciators of Alex Kuno’s series The Miscreants of Tiny Town often have a very different-and more optimistic-perception of the images than the painter himself. Exercising his more pessimistic tendencies, these darkly comic pieces are shaped by the curved wood panels they are painted upon, capturing a moment from a story much like a page torn from a book. Closer inspection of these curiously whimsical depictions of children wearing animal skins, befalling some sad fate or fighting back against newly appearing adults brings these stories to life.
