This MN Original dance compilation episode celebrates a wide range of talented performers and choreographers throughout our dance community. Zenon Dance Company presents three exhilarating examples of modern dance. Ananya Chatterjea of the Ananya Dance Theater layers classical Indian Odissi, yoga, Indian martial arts, and combines them with activism and social justice. The James Sewell Ballet combines their award-winning talents with those of The Schubert Club’s Indonesian Orchestra, the International Novelty Gamelan. The infectious energy of Duniya Drum and Dance keep African traditions alive with their driving percussion and athletic dance moves. TU Dance Artistic Directors Toni Pierce- Sands and Uri Sands explore the senses and emotions with a passion that is their signature. Performance artist Emily Johnson performs an excerpt from her piece, The Thank-You Bar. And Joe Chvala and his percussive dance ensemble, the Flying Foot Forum, create innovative and theatrical performances.
