Carolyn Swiszcz is a painter and video maker who celebrates the mundane in her art. With an eye for suburban architecture of the 1960s-1980s, she captures a landscape of run-down strip malls, office buildings, newsstands, and deserted storefronts. The more melancholy a place, the more Carolyn is drawn to it. She also makes videos, including one that illustrates a song cycle about her town of West St. Paul.
