As you’re planning out your visit to the Minnesota State Fair this year, make sure to stop by the STUDIO:HERE exhibition featuring a lineup of Minnesota artists and many MN Original alums. It will be a fantastic opportunity to see stunning works of art created right before your eyes.

Each day of the fair, a practicing Minnesota artist will create artwork and have opportunities to interact with fair guests. This special exhibition provides a window into the working artist’s world and an up-close look at the ‘nuts-and-bolts’ of how an art object is created.

The participating artists work in a variety of 2D and 3D media and include: Cindy Koopman (printmaker), Greg Graham (painter), Moira Bateman (mixed media sculpter), Todd Bridigum (drawer/ printmaker), Yudong Shen (watercolor artist), Patrick Kemal Pryor (painter), Leslie Barlow (painter), Miranda Brandon (photographer), Eric William Carroll (photographer), Jenn Ackerman (photographer), Matt Semke (multimedia 19 process artist) and Kimberlee Joy Roth (ceramicist/slip-caster).

STUDIO: HERE takes place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center

Don’t miss these MN Original alums on the following days:

Saturday, August 29 – Moira Bateman

Inspired and fascinated by nature, Moira Bateman earned a degree in landscape architecture, but changed course to pursue mixed-media art full time.

Monday, August 31 – Yudong Shen

*Watch an early release of this segment featuring painter Yudong Shen below and look for it in a future full episode of MN Original!

Yudong Shen infuses his Asian brush paintings with color and contrast to create landscapes that recall both China and Minnesota.

Tuesday, Sept 1 – Patrick Kemal Pryror

Home improvement projects were the impetus for Patrick K. Pryor’s experimental painting techniques in his latest body of work.
