Laura Hallen “standstill” Installation at Silverwood Park

Open now through July 31

Laura Hallen‘s “standstill” installation is on display in Silverwood Park’s gallery space.  The show is Laura’s first site-specific installation, in which she suspended over 5,500 artificial lunaria seedpods. Looking upwards, these pearlescent ovals resemble a cascading mass of stars. It creates an intentional space to reflect on being still. This kind of clarity requires a keen self-awareness in order to remove distractions. “standstill” is an invitation to listen to ourselves and be in the present moment together. There will also be a free yoga class under my installation on July 12th from 11-12:15 am, taught by Amy Patee.

Open now through August 2

There’s something for everyone in this wide-ranging thematic exhibition featuring both emerging and established artists. Summertime will feature 30 pieces from the Minnesota Museum of American Art’s permanent collection, as well as the work of three additional local artists. Fans of celebrated sculptor Paul Manship will be pleased to see his name among the exhibiting artists, as well as Jim Denomie’s acerbic political and social commentary work. Not surprisingly, photography is well represented with images of the quintessential American pastime, the road trip, and souvenirs of travel, by photographers such as Wing Young Huie, Peter de Lory, and Kenda North.
