John Largaespada manipulates photographs to create composite images, interpreting scenes from classic literature. MN Original captured John’s process as he creatively interprets a scene out of Alice in Wonderland.
John Largaespada calls himself an “image maker”. Combining elements of photography, sketches, and computer technology, he manipulates and composites images based on scenes from classical literature, theatre, and opera.
John has exhibited his hybrid of photography and collage all over Minnesota and beyond. His work has garnered him an MCAD/Jerome Fellowship and a Minnesota State Arts Board Grant. He is a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and makes his living as graphic artist and photographer here in the Twin Cities.
