Black Label Movement’s Artistic Director Carl Flink teams up with University of Minnesota biomedical engineer David Odde for The Moving Cell Project, an unlikely collaboration that has proven to be mutually beneficial.
Using dancers to model the behavior of molecules within a cell, Odde and his colleagues are able to quickly test theories and communicate their ideas more effectively with each other and with the greater public. Flink and his Black Label Movement (BLM) dance company have, in turn, translated this experience into an intensely physical performance piece entitled HIT.
HIT was underwritten by the American Composers Forum’s Live Music for Dance Minnesota program in partnership with New Music USA, with matching funds provided by the McKnight Foundation.
